FAQ - basic knowledge
- What is the main advantage of using electronic injection system EFI?
Mechanic injectors - K-jet type, installed in the last three decades of 20th century can easily wear out, therefore are practically unable to fix. Our kits, that are based on EFI can replace these faulty systems, giving a guarantee of high reliability and use for many years.
- What exactly electronic injection system EFI is? What is the difference between standalone system and piggyback?
EFI= electronic fuel injection. It is an electronic injection system based on tuning controller. We offer and use DEC systems -Piggyback type, and more advanced : EasyEcu -Standalone type.
Piggyback (DEC) – this controller controls injectors, idle speed RPM valve and sends analog signal, which can be replaced in the place of the flowmeter. We are able to maintain serial ignition advance in certain cars.
Standalone (EasyEcu)- controls injectors as well as ignition system, coil/ coils both passive and active.
DEC is based on signals from the original sensors, EasyEcu usually needs additional trigger wheel with engine speed sensor in order to calculate the moment at which a spark should be generated. (additional gear wheel is included in our kit)
- Do you do assembly and tuning of EFI?
We manufacture kits, however we own car repair shop, where we test new kit models as well as we assembly our kits for the customer. The date and price is discussed individually.
- What things are included in the kit?
All the necessary elements needed to build injection system in certain engine are included. There is no need to buy anything else.
Additionally, the price includes the following: instructions, descriptions, our support with the assembling and tunning.
The controller has got a loaded map from the engine, that is tuned by us corresponding to a given car model. ( Final optimalization is mandatory after the assembly – made by customer).
All the elements of the kits are brand new, we guarantee two year warranty and technical online support.
There is a possibility to issue an invoice.
- Is it difficult to do conversion from mechanical injection to EFI?
The system is easy to assembly even for intermediate mechanics.
In an mechanic matter we dismantle mechanical injectors, fuel distribution box and injectors sockets (only in certain cars). We replace them with the elements from the kit: injectors sockets, injectors, fuel rail and fuel lines. Fuel rails are mantled with original wires from fuel tank. Occasionally, slight remakes have to be made in order to install all the elements properly.
In a steering matter – signals have to be taken from the original car harness. The easiest way to do is with original controller, where to follow the pin numbers, which are referred in the assembly instructions. If we deal with older car, the signals can be taken straight from the sensor in the engine.
The controller needs 4 basic parameters: signal of engine speed, temperature of the engine, intake air temperature and under pressure.
We connect the power supply. If present – lambda probe and TPS throttle position sensor. We program the injectors, the idle speed valve and analog signal output (analog out).
With the kit installed in such way, you can proceed to final engine tuning.
- How the tuning is done? Can I do it myself?
The controller already has got installed project with map made for the given engine. The map comes from our database of 200 tunned engines. It is a huge
facilitation due to the fact that there is no need to configure the controller from the base. However, each car is worn out to a different extent and requires final adjustments.
The longer use of not tuned engine can cause irreversible damages!
It is hard to do it alone without the AFR measurement. It can be tuned based on narrowband serial probe indications, but it is rather general.
The correct tuning is done using broadband lambda with interface, because of it during the tunning we can monitor air fuel ratio (AFR). It informs us whether the composition of the mixture is correct. While driving on the road or on the dynamometer, having a preview of the current AFR, you know how much to correct the map at a given moment for a given engine speed.
We are here to help if necessary.
- What will I gain by assembling your kit? How much power will I gain? What about combustion?
It is not only about increasing power, because in a naturally aspirated engine it is difficult to increase power at a low cost by regulating fuel only. In an charged engine the increase in power depends on the fuel dose and boost level.
For instance, in the Audi MC 2.2T 10V engine we achieve 200-220 HP with a standard turbocharger and injection control via a DEC controller.
The main purpose is to achieve failure-free injection system.
In such kit there is nothing that could get broken, if so – the parts are easily available and cheap.
Apart from this, it is a huge advantage to do any configuration, tuning. Connecting with the program allows to configurate any maps.
Other advantage is the possibility of LPG montage in a sequence or adding turbo.
We often achieve lower combustion than serial and a little bit higher power (10 HP, 30NM), but it depends on the engine condition.
- Can I install sequential LPG?
Yes, our injection kit gives an opportunity/ possibility to install sequential LPG.
- If I have LPG can I install EFI? Will LPG work properly?
Yes, there is a possibility to install EFI without the worry that LPG will no longer work. Usually, after the conversion of the injection system there is a need to readjust LPG.
- Does it have to be any other controller or computer in the car? Is the system independent from other components?
Ignition system have to work properly. Our DEC (piggyback) is independent, can be directly connected to the engine, however it will not control the ignition.
Easy Ecu (standalone) is an completely independent controller/ system, which regulates ignition, spark and fuel. Due to this we can get rid of original harness and controllers. However, there is a need to add trigger wheel, engine speed sensor, which are already in our kits.
